You are the main character of your own life.

I’m sure we’ve all thought this before.
You are the main character of your own life.

We all only know what we know, and anything beyond that we can only imagine. That’s life.

And it’s not life that I want to talk about here, but instead how it’s often told in anime (and manga by extension, but I’m just going to say anime from here on out) via storytelling, and then how that storytelling can affect us.

Anime A to Z: G – Genshiken (S1+S2 Review)

Until now, I don’t think I’ve watched an anime more otaku inspired than Genshiken. Or maybe I have, but no anime has made me enjoy watching the whole otaku lifestyle more than Genshiken. It almost makes me want to try attending an anime expo / event, buy figurines, and buy various manga.

What an anime.

I’m not sure if I would count as a true otaku, because the only otaku activity I actively participate in is watching anime – and writing about it here. Maybe this is enough to qualify, because I think most anime fans don’t also have anime blogs right? But I’m missing out on those figurines, manga, cosplay, and events! And then there’s the creation side of it all! Maybe we should all band together and create a manga? Haha.

Either way, Genshiken manages to take the otaku life and make it look really fun.

Welcome to Genshiken!

Joukamachi no Dandelion

For the last month I’ve been watching some older anime while waiting for the Summer 2017 anime to finish up so I can watch the newer stuff (I’ve been waiting since April for you Boku no Hero Academia 2nd season, don’t let me down!). Of the anime I’ve watched lately, Joukamachi no Dandelion (Castle Town Dandelion) was my favourite.

Had to get a picture of this cat on here.

An Anime I Really Enjoyed

I recently finished a comedic slice of life anime, enough that I wanted to mention it here. The anime is Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou / The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behaviour. I found it really funny and relaxing, two things I enjoy in a slice of life anime. I’ll mention some of the things I think the anime did well (no spoilers).

This picture pretty much sums up the anime.
