Manga Sales Pitch

Just for fun very recently I’ve been trying to think of an idea for a manga that I think would be cool to create if I had any actual drawing ability.

But I don’t – so posting about my idea on my anime blog is the next best thing I can do.

Yattamen not included.

Handa-kun & Barakamon – Prequel / Sequel Disconnect

Still watching anime G – it’s a bit longer than the previous anime in the challenge.
Good news is that I haven’t dropped it.
Everything else will have to wait till I post about it!

But I still wanted to write about an anime.
I’m starting to see the allure of episodic reviews – so many more opportunities to both read and write about anime. Thinking I’ll try it out with an anime or two next season.

And that brings me to Handa-kun.

I watched Handa-kun a while ago… maybe 6 months ago? Time goes by so fast I can’t remember for sure, plus my life was a blur back then – I wasn’t really doing anything productive so it all sort of melds together.

Anyways, I thought I’d write something about Handa-kun, which ended up becoming something about Handa-kun and it’s relationship to Barakamon.

Anything + Anime = Better?

What is the deal with anime? Something about it just seems to catch my interest, or increase my enjoyment for some reason.

My YouTube recommendations went off the deep end a while ago, filled almost completely with Japanese songs with anime thumbnails. And you know what? Those anime thumbnails totally work on me. I see a picture of an anime girl I haven’t seen before, and I click on it.

Anyone else get this?

Anime otter > real otter.

100 Followers Q&A Extravaganza!

Hey everyone, I’m back with answers to your questions! Also I really wanted to include extravaganza in the title of at least one of my posts, so this really worked out well.

I originally had an idea that I wanted to use for my 100 followers celebration, but I couldn’t make it happen just yet. I’ll post it at some point though for sure. I’m sorry I couldn’t surprise you all just yet. It’ll be worth the wait though!

I didn’t expect so many questions! I’m glad I asked for them though, seeing as my other idea isn’t ready yet!

Once again, thank you everyone who has been a part of this blog so far, from reading my posts, to following, to commenting! I truly appreciate all of it.

Yomu Reviews Yomu II’s Review of WeeaBroDerek’s Review of No Game No Life

Welcome back everyone. How do you do? Today we have a special treat. I will be conducting a review review review, something that you likely have never experienced before now. Usually these things are done behind the scenes, as I have been coaching Yomu II, my understudy, for many years. Due to a shortage in review review requests (please help, we need more review requests – Yomu II), which Yomu II has told me is the result of a downturn in the review market, I will instead publish this review review review for your viewing pleasure.

I am disappointed that my original review for WeeaBroDerek’s review of Violet Evergarden was lost in the mail. The postal service just isn’t as reliable as it used to be. I am grateful that Yomu II decided to step in and produce a review review in my place – deadlines are deadlines, and missing one would tarnish my reputation as a review reviewer.

It is not often that an amateur’s review review is published internationally like this, you see. Which is why I believe that the situation is perfectly suited for a review review review.

As always, previous review reviews can be found here.

Do I Have Anime Veteran Bias?

Maybe anime veteran bias isn’t the best term for what I am thinking of here…

Lately I’ve been thinking about how I judge anime, and comparing my observations / enjoyment to what I would have thought when I started out watching anime. I was just much less critical back then!

For the first year or so of discovering & watching anime, I loved everything I watched. Didn’t matter what it was. Harem, ecchi, action, shounen, mecha, fantasy, et cetera. I just enjoyed watching anime. I look back now on some of the titles that I watched and am fairly surprised that I sat through 12-24 episodes of certain anime. Present day Yomu would have some serious trouble re-watching some of the anime in his anime list.

So this made me wonder, is there a tangible anime veteran bias? I can guarantee that if I actually rated anime (something I don’t do on MAL), I would have rated many anime higher back then than I would today. And even anime that I have watched recently, such as Black Cat, I know I would have rated higher had I watched it back in 2013. At the very least, I feel like I would have enjoyed it more.

But what causes this to happen?

100 Followers! Thanks Everyone.

Hey, I’ve hit 100 followers!

Very brief post here.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone reading this, and everyone who has followed me over these past several months.
You all rock!

I already have an idea of what I want to post to celebrate, so hopefully I can get it together this weekend. Depends on how the weather turns out.

But at the same time, it feels like it’s almost tradition to do a Q & A as well!

So, while questions aren’t explicitly required, feel free to ask if you have any.

You don’t have to force one out though, it’s all good! I’m no good at coming up with questions myself, you see. So it’s only fair I extend that to all of you.

That’s it!

Until next time!
Thanks for reading!

The Anime A to Z Gauntlet

All right! This is something I wanted to do once I had finished Legend of the Galactic Heroes. An anime A to Z challenge!

The premise is simple: watch and post about an anime that starts with each letter of the alphabet, starting with A. It can be a movie, OVA, long, or short. If it has a page on MAL, it’s allowed. As long as you start with an A anime, and end with a Z anime. Re-watching anime is allowed. Posts can be anything related to the anime: reviews, thoughts, analysis, et cetera.

For the purposes of this, I will be using the titles as they appear on the anime search function of MyAnimeList. I feel like romaji names can count too, but for now I’m going to stick to the names as they appear on MAL’s anime search.
