I’ve probably mentioned it before, but in case you didn’t know, I don’t generally give much attention to openings. I know there are all sorts, and some are really good, but sometimes I just don’t want to spend the time focusing on them, you know?
But as I said, some are really great.
Which is why I’ll cover some of my favourites here!
This is an idea I’d been thinking about writing for a while now, and with some bigger names from the genre getting new entries, I think it’s a good time to go over what I believe to be the top 9 isekai anime. Why 9? No reason.
Something that I’ve seen fellow blogger Dewbond bring up a few times now is the idea of a “big four” of isekai, and I have to admit that I’ve thought about that same topic before too, because for the most part isekai happens to overlap perfectly with my favourite genre: fantasy. Which in turn makes isekai a genre that I tend to really enjoy.
I know I wanted to write about Japan, but then I got here and settled in and whatnot, and I realized that a lot has already been covered somewhere before, for example mainstream tips like “don’t rub your chopsticks together”, that I’d read a million times prior to coming here. So I tried to come up with some other things that I hadn’t known.
Even these points probably have been mentioned before.
But they’re pretty minor things, so maybe not!
So let’s get into 8 random tidbits I’ve picked up so far from living in Japan for a couple of months. In no particular order.
Last week I published a post going over 8 anime that I feel are overrated because they simply don’t live up to the amount of hype and attention they frequently get (in my opinion).
This week, we’re going to look at the flip side of that, with 12 anime that I consider underrated and don’t get enough attention! Or maybe they do, and I’ve just missed it!
This is all my opinion, of course.
Ok, not really “throwing them under the bus” but it makes for a good post title, no? I’ve got a list here of 8 titles that I consider overrated. Entirely my opinion, no shots fired or anything like that here.

Let’s get some more anime guilty pleasures in here, because a big one just came to me. I’m actually guilty of it as we speak! You may remember that I’ve written a post like this before…
Although re-reading it, I don’t feel really guilty about anything I wrote there. So I feel like I should double down with some TRUE guilty pleasures here!
Best of their YouTube releases, at least.
The songs that I’ve covered here, once per week, until there were none left to write about! Time flies.
I figure I can’t just end it there. I also have no idea when they will add another song. It’s been 3 months, so maybe soon, but it all depends on whoever is creating the PVs for their songs, because that seems to be the requirement for them to put a song on the YouTube channel for all to hear.
Sometimes when I want to write something I’ll pop over to MyAnimeList to take a look at my list and look for ideas. Lucky for me, someone came up with a nice idea for me thanks to the “recent comments'” section on the frontpage.

Keeping up with my new tradition (2 posts) of writing about whatever on Sundays, I had the idea of writing about some of the ecchiest anime I’ve seen. The idea came from talking to Lynn Sheridan about Dewbond’s favourite anime, Shinmai Maou no Testament. And that’s about when I figured, why not parse my anime list and pick out the ecchiest of them all?
