Not to be confused with Clannad: After Story, which I still have to watch through. Soon. I’m not prepared, but I’ll never be prepared, I don’t think it’s something that one can prepare for!
Anyways, this was my second time through Clannad, my first being over 5 years ago. Most of this rewatch felt like fresh content, but I figure I’ll throw that out there.
And so, how was it?
How was Clannad, the story that seems to be often overshadowed by it’s sequel?
Looks like this is actually the final episode of Clannad.
Which means I was a bit mistaken, and graduation is not until After Story.
Well, we’ll get there when we get there.
Nagisa had just discovered photos and stories from her parent’s past, and how they had abandoned their careers for her. And now, it’s her time to perform at the cultural festival.
With the backstory of the Furukawas and Nagisa revealed, Okazaki continues to help Nagisa with the theatre club and her play. Of course, Nagisa herself doesn’t know about what happened in her past…
Last episode Okazaki moved in with the Furukawas to stay for an undetermined amount of time. He’s a bit uncomfortable with how close the Furukawas are as a family, and we’ve learned a bit about their past…
Well, last episode was something else. Not the saddest arc ending, but definitely the most climactic and unexpected in many ways. But we must move forward! Tomoyo is now the student council president, so let’s see where things go with the theatre club.
Last episode Nagisa got sick, and Okazaki decided to help Tomoyo in her bid for student council president in order to work towards the formation of the theatre club. Okazaki’s help ended in him taking the fall for a fight outside the school gates on Tomoyo’s behalf…
Last episode Okazaki, Sunohara, and Kyou played a mean game of basketball and managed to beat the basketball team in a exhibition match, albeit just barely.
The plan was to get the choir club to let the theatre club have Koumura-sensei as their club advisor after seeing the hard fought match. We haven’t seen how that’s played out just yet, but we should find out this episode!
Last episode a lot happened, but the takeaway is that the theatre club is currently without an advisor (and the only advisor remaining is contested with a choir club), Sunohara wants to play basketball, and Sunohara’s sister has stopped by for a visit.
So where do we go from there?
As I’ve mentioned before, you know when a new arc is beginning in Clannad when the episode opens up with that girl and her robot friend in the field of fireflies. Which means, we’ve got a new arc!
