Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest (Season One Review)

Well, this is it. I believe Arifureta is the final isekai anime of Summer 2019 to finish up. The anime season that could very well be labelled as the season of mediocre isekai anime… or perhaps even stronger language could be used here.

Arifureta is not exempt from that either. Summer 2019 was truly the season where the isekai genre has seemingly overstayed its welcome. I’ve always been a fan of the genre, but it seems that with the anime industry seeing it as a way to make a quick buck, things are quickly changing.

Was Arifureta just another nail in the coffin for the isekai genre?

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest (Episode 13) – Real Emotion

We’ve gotten to the finale of Arifureta, with a bit of buildup from last episode. The isekai class had found themselves in a pinch when a powerful demon began summoning monsters and attacking them – one classmate escaped, found Hajime at the local adventurers guild, and managed to make it back in time.

I think it’s pretty clear what will happen next!

Last episode Hajime and friends destroyed a gang in some city, and ended up adding a little mermaid girl to their party. What’s next on this roller-coaster adventure?

Last episode Hajime and friends rescued the Duke’s son who went missing, and after a fight, managed to win over a female dragonkin. They learned that an army of monsters was marching on the town…

Last episode, Hajime ended up letting Sensei and the students with her accompany him on his expedition into the mountains to search for a missing party of adventurers, including a Duke’s son.

What will they find waiting for them?

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest (Episode 8) – Partial Reunion

Last episode of Arifureta we saw Hajime, Yue, and Shea beat their way through a second labyrinth, unlocking some sort of gravity magic for Yue. They then proceeded to the nearest town and stayed at an inn.

Now that they’re back in civilization, how will things play out?

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest (Episode 7) – Bunny Hammertime!

Well, I said that last post that I’d be fine with either visiting the kingdom, or another labyrinth. And we got another labyrinth, so that’s pretty neat!

Plus, Shea really pulled her weight this episode. I’m glad she’s managed to be more purposeful as a member of the party, and not just an annoying bunny.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest (Episode 6) – Worthless Rabbit

With the recap episode done and over with, we can move onto some new content – episode 6!

All you need to know is that Hajime and Yue have cleared the labyrinth and are now heading to the surface in order to find other labyrinths in hopes of unlocking the secret to sending Hajime home, ideally with Yue in tow.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest (Episode 5.5) – Recap + Bunnygirl

Last episode, Hajime learned some ancient magic from the spirit of the maverick that once lived on the labyrinth’s 100th floor. He and Yue then spent some time gearing up and preparing for the next step in their journey – heading back to the surface, via teleportation.

Unfortunately, this is not episode 6, but episode 5.5.
What this means is that the episode is 99% recap, and 1% teaser for the next episode.

And so, I’ll just go over the super short teaser at the end of this recap episode, and we’ll be done here.
