Let’s branch out a little with another Japanese song I’ve been digging lately. It’s been on my playlist for quite some time, but I’ve never posted a REOL song here.
So here we go!
So looking at 宵々古今, I guess the meaning is something like “Past and Present (古今) Evening (宵)”. Maybe.
古今 can mean both “all ages” and “past and present”, but guessing from the lyrics, I feel like the time interpretation fits more.
And while 宵 means “evening / early evening”, I don’t know what it means when it’s repeated twice, as 宵々 isn’t showing up on my Japanese dictionary.
So “Past and Present Evening” is my best guess at an English interpretation. But I’m no translator, nor is my Japanese all that good, so who knows. It’s something like that, anyways.
As for the song, well, it’s just a really cool song. The verses, chorus, and bridges are all very interesting and have a distinct feel / sound to them. They all flow into each other, there’s a lot of build up towards the chorus, and the chorus itself just explodes with great energy and a nice melody.
Honestly, if I had to choose a word to describe this song, I’d have to say “stylish”. I don’t even know what constitutes as stylish these days in music, but this is my gut feeling and personal opinion. The song has this sort of trendy / stylish feel to it. Like I can definitely picture a choreographed dance to it or something like this, J-POP / K-POP style.
Anyways, not much else to say about it.
It’s a cool song, so I figured I’d post about it.
I actually found it via another REOL song on YouTube, which I’ll probably also post about at some point!
So until then,
Thanks for reading / listening.
