ShinRa Bansho – Time Paradox

Been listening to a lot of ShinRa Bansho, thanks to their 24/7 livestream of their music.
And this is a song that caught my ears.

The original Touhou track is called Mermaid from the Uncharted Land. And it’s way different from Time Paradox. Faster pace, more aggressive sound. I can kind of hear the similarities, but the speed is different and overall these two tracks don’t feel very alike at all. Normally it’s not so difficult to at least hear the similarities, although I guess sometimes it is.

Anyways, I guess the reason Time Paradox really caught my ear is because of the the layered vocals, in which we hear a whispered singing underneath the regular vocals. It’s kind of strange, but also appeals to the ASMR fan in me. It’s really different, and I can’t say I’ve ever heard anything like it. Which is one of the things I like about these songs, from ShinRa-Bansho, Akatsuki Records and others. They’re all so creative.

And of course, whispering aside, the regular vocals, tone, and so on from this song is awesome. Great melody too. Listening to the original just made me appreciate the softer tone of Time Paradox. It’s got a much more relaxing feel to it.

I think my favourite thing about this song, aside from the chorus, and the layered vocals, is all of the rhyming that happens in the verses and at the very end. I don’t know if you can actually call it rhyming or if such a concept (as we know it) really exists in Japanese, but clearly it does to some extent as it’s in this song. I can’t recall seeing or hearing rhymes in Japanese, although to be fair I probably have seen / heard it many times and just didn’t realize it.

Overall, this is just a really cool song that’s fun to listen to.

Until next time,
Thanks for reading.
