Well this isn’t really an anime, it’s an animated music video for a song.
The thing is, it’s technically on the studio / producers list, and it gives me something to write about. So it checks two boxes, and it only took me 4 minutes to watch! I’m all about getting some efficient entries into this challenge, considering how long it’ll take!
Plus in this case, you can all watch it too!
Some niche content right here, at least I’m guessing so based on the views.
I don’t listen to much hip hop, but I’m going call this is a Korean hip hop song. It’s pretty chill, the name Blue Hawaii works well given the chill tone of the song overall. I’m pretty sure “Blue Hawaii” is also an alcoholic beverage, or some type of mixed drink. I remember hearing people ordering that when I was in Hawaii many years ago.
So yeah, the song itself isn’t really something I’d listen to on my own time per se, but I can definitely see the appeal to it. It’s a good tune overall I think, not that I have much other Korean hip hop to compare it to.
As for the video, it’s pretty neat I guess. The actual depiction is just faceless people drinking, swimming, and making out. The style itself is cool though. It’s a rough animation that uses individually painted frames. Whether they were painted in real life, or just on a computer and stylized to look like they were painted, I don’t know.
Because it’s a rough / slow animation, the video achieves some cool imagery where they make drastic changes in-between frames, so someone’s face might swap colours each frame, for example. And because of how rough the art is, each frame you can see all of the differences because all of the details change every frame. It actually gives the animation a lively feel.
Overall, it’s an interesting song and an interesting video.
I’m no authority on these things, so I’ll pass on a rating here.
Not my personal cup of tea, but considering it’s only 4 minutes of my time, I’d say it was 4 minutes well-spent.
Now we can check another entry off the list, with 1theK’s Blue Hawaii (ft. Crush, Penomeco)!
Until next time,
Thanks for reading.
