暁Records – Necromantic

Akatsuki Records is out with another song on their YouTube, released on Valentines’ Day.

The song is called Necromantic!

I’d like to point out that it feels like the Japanese are better at English wordplay than we are, because wordplay is ingrained in their own language. Maybe it’s because of all the exposure I’ve had to Japanese media compared to English media over the past several years, but it certainly feels like they are more apt to try out wordplay in the first place than we are. Necromantic is a pretty cool one.

And it’s basically what you’d expect, a sort of zombie themed romance song. Something that both Chihiro Furuya and friend of the blog Lynn could get behind, I’m sure!

Necromantic is based off of the original Touhou track Desire Drive. It’s actually a really cool track. Has a nice Touhou feel, but also has this laid back feeling I think. For some reason I think of the “mind taxi” minigame in the Danganronpa games, because there are some parts in the song that are real chill, but the pace says “gotta keep moving”. Overall I love it.

And then I listen to Necromantic, and as always, the original song is completely transformed. In this case, that “cool taxi” feeling I get is still there in the chorus, but then Necromantic also breaks out into some rap in the verses. I don’t know if it’d be considered rap these days, but it reminds me of the poké rap. Which is actually pretty cool in itself. The second verse especially makes me think of the poké rap.

Overall, I think the song is very chill and relaxed. It’s a cool song, even more so than Desire Drive I think, because Desire Drive has some parts where it builds up. Necromantic keeps that “cool taxi” sound throughout. It’s real refreshing, especially because I’ve been overdosing lately on very upbeat nightcore music and melodic techno.

I don’t rate these songs anymore because after I listen to them several times and write about them I end up loving them all, and that’s definitely the case once again here.

And that does it for this one, we’ll see when another song is released onto the Akatsuki Records’ YouTube. This one was a great Valentines’ Day treat.

Until next time,
Thanks for reading.

  1. I totally get what you mean by the Danganronpa mind taxi thing. chill, but the pace says “gotta keep moving” – wow, that is a really nice way to put it. This song is kind of addicting, haha. It’s so catchy.
