A Mystery.

That’s right! The Umai Yomu Anime Blog has been nominated again, this time for the enigmatic Mystery Blogger Award!

What is this award, and why have you never heard of it? It’s a mystery.

A Mystery?

Yes, a mystery.
However, I think I’ve gotten close to cracking the mystery once and for all, so I implore you to follow along with me. Cue the detective music!

After some serious sleuthing, I was able to track down the ancient texts relevant to the original creation of this award which was only spoken of in myths and legends. They read as follows:

“Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.
Okoto Enigma

That was the original text, which as you can see, is an enigma, but then I kept searching and I came across something very intriguing:

“While I have devoted my lifetime to achievement of the literary arts, there remains one mystery. I date not mention it in public, lest I tarnish my honour and reputation of the great art that I consider myself to be: a literary blogger. Surely there is more to this than the Queen has let on, but I cannot act in any way that would arouse suspicion, lest I lose my chances at the esteemed award.…”
William Shakespeare

Wait a minute? Could this mean…?
Are you all reading what I’m reading? What could William be referring to here?

Hold on, I think I’ve got it. If you read the last word of each sentence, it spells something out…. MysteryBlogger…. Award…

Eureka! That’s it!

He must be referring to the award of legends, the Mystery Blogger Award itself, that lives on to this day! But what did he mean when he referred to the Queen? William was in communication with Her Royal Majesty? Or is there some sort of connection between the Mystery Blogger Award and the Queen?

If this means what I think it means, then I’d better craft my responses carefully…

You see, there was one other passage scrawled on the papyrus that I came across:

  • Put the award logo/image on your blog
  • List the rules.
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  • You have to nominate 10 – 20 people
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
  • Share a link to your best post(s)

This must be some sort of rite of passage in order to receive some sort of acknowledgement from Her Royal Majesty the Queen. I won’t let you down.

And so, with my inkwell filled to the brim, handmade papyrus at the ready, and a fresh quill in my hand, it’s time to prove myself as worthy of the Mystery Blogger Award.

First, the logo.

Next, I’d like to thank Average Joe Reviews, a fellow blogger whom I know is completely loyal to the Queen. It is thanks to his reference that I even be considered for this award. Average Joe and I go way back, so it was only natural that I get in on this as well. Thank you, and God Save the Queen!

Three Things About Myself

First, I am loyal to the Crown and Her Royal Majesty the Queen. Once I was asked what I thought about the Royal Family, and I replied by saying that I am loyal to the Crown and Her Royal Majesty the Queen. Needless to say, this proves my loyalty.

Second, I respect the Royal Family and the legacy of the Royal Family. Personally, if given the choice, I would revert the Canadian flag to the Red Ensign, in order to once again fly a flag that proudly displays our ties to Great Britain and the Commonwealth.

Thirdly, I don’t like hot drinks, and tea by extension. BUT! If I had to, I would gladly drink boiling hot tea in the presence of Her Royal Majesty the Queen. Without question, I would put my personal preferences aside for the greater good.

Average Joe’s Questions

What franchise do you feel has had the biggest impact on you as a person?

I’d have to go with Subway for this one. It’s my favourite fast food joint. As much as I like McDonalds and other fast food franchises, whenever I’m in the mood for fast food, I always end up going to a Subway. I love their sandwiches, and I also love their freshly baked cookies. I’ve got a pretty good eye at spotting fresh vs. stale cookies, a skill that I’ve honed from all of the times I’ve eaten at Subway as well as Tim Hortons.

What anime do you think has the best Opening and Ending tracks? You can have 2 separate anime, one for opening/one for ending, or one anime representing both.

Well I’m not about to cop out and separate the OP and EDs from anime, so instead I’ll give 2 anime that have excellent opening and ending tracks:

  • First is Angel Beats!, which has My Soul, Your Beats! as the OP and Brave Song as the ED, both are excellent songs.
  • Second is Clannad, with the amazing Megumeru OP that manages to convey both the emotion and joy of the series, and the classic Dango Daikazoku ED that in many ways is the theme song for Clannad itself.

For both of these examples I think the OPs and EDs are great reflections of the anime they represent, and aren’t just tacked on. They have the emotion and feel of the anime, and I immediately associate them with their anime.

As for which I think is the best, well, that’s a tough one but I’ll go with the Clannad OP and ED. While I prefer the Angel Beats! soundtrack overall, I think that the OP and EDs in particular of Clannad have more impact.

What anime franchise do you feel had the biggest influence on you?

In terms of raw hours spent watching, this has to go to One Piece. You’d think that the shounen formula could get old after 800 episodes, but somehow it just doesn’t. Pretty crazy, and what a journey it has been in that show.

In terms of emotion, Clannad + Clannad After Story is an unforgettable emotional roller coaster and an overall perfect experience. I can’t think of a more beautiful anime and story, everything about Clannad is just perfect.

What is your go-to comfort food?

Of course there are many, but my premiere comfort food is a bowl of basmati rice with a piece of breaded fish coated in hot sauce. While regular fish works fine also, I really like breaded fish because of how it soaks up the hot sauce. I could eat this meal everyday.

Chicken is an excellent substitute for the fish also.

Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?

Definitely, it’s the best Christmas movie. This wouldn’t even be a debate had it been named “John McClane Saves Christmas”, or something like this. Plus what are the chances that the sequel also takes place around Christmas time?

The only movie that even comes close to Die Hard as best Christmas movie is Jingle All The Way.

You Have To Nominate 10 – 20 People

Oh no.

10 – 20 people? I just had a tough time picking out 7 for my last tag post nominations! Wait a second… is that…?

“…nominate 10 – 20 people…”

Ahh, it’s only 1 – 2 people! It can be hard to read these old texts, with all the spilled ink and whatnot, not to mention the messy cursive everyone used. I must have read it wrong originally. There was no whiteout back then, remember.

Well, if Her Majesty wills it, I will oblige.

I shall inform the nominees when this post is published, worry not.
I know that they too possess absolute loyalty to the Queen, and will not disappoint.

My Questions

  • What is your favourite Commonwealth country?
  • Give one example of a time you’ve demonstrated your loyalty to the Crown.
  • Do you enjoy a cup of tea?
  • How has the Royal Family helped inspire you personally?
  • What time is tea time?
  • Which anime do you believe the Queen would approve of?
  • What are your thoughts on William Shakespeare and his work? Also… what’s your favourite Shakespeare work?

My Best Posts

No problem.
If you’d just follow this link:

Ok, I’ll give a few suggestions as well…

And I believe that is everything.
I know I skimped out on more nominations, but to be fair, I just nominated a bunch of people in my last tag post. I don’t want to be throwing these around too much, and I have another tag post still to come!

Plus, I think 10 – 20 is a bit much. While I understand it helps with the spread of the tag, I think it’s better to have smaller numbers, like 1-5 nominations. Feels less like chain mail and more genuine. It’s all in good fun in the end regardless.

Anyways, that’s it for this one.

One final thanks to Average Joe Reviews, my brother in tag posts, and fellow loyalist.

Until next one,
Thanks for reading!
