Keep the nominations coming folks, I’m riding the tag post gravy train right now! If only I had enough questions to just turn this into an anime / Q&A blog!
The rules haven’t changed!
- Display the logo.
- Thank the blogger that nominated you and link their blog.
- Answer their questions.
- Nominate new bloggers.
- Ask them seven questions.
Thanks to Dewbond for the nomination, and thanks to Pete Davison of Moegamer.net for the questions, as Dewbond passed the buck without writing any new ones. To be honest though, I’m terrible at coming up with questions so I don’t blame ya Dewbond.
Have you ever deliberately sought out a piece of media you knew would make you uncomfortable somehow? If so, why did you do that and what was the experience like?
That’s a toughie. I can’t really think of a time that I did such a thing. Best answer I can probably give is just that WW1 / WW2 documentaries usually put me in an emotional state and on the verge of tears. It never used to make me this way, but seeing footage from WW2, hearing stories, and thinking about all the good men that died overwhelms me now, probably for the last few years its been like that.
I don’t usually seek these sort of documentaries out, but my dad loves watching them so they’re usually on. I have trouble sitting through them, to be honest. It’s like watching Clannad After Story for me. I guess I’d consider it uncomfortable only because I’m usually not prepared, sort of like Clannad After Story, which no amount of preparation will save me from.
Not an exact answer to the question, but it’s the best I’ve got.
What is your favourite tangible, physical item that you own and why?
This is a weird one, but it’s actually a chunk of glass. I worked at an aquarium store part-time throughout high school, and one day I found a chunk of glass, maybe two pounds, in one of the tanks, covered in algae. I cleaned it off and took it home.
It’s not a flat piece of glass, it’s more like a prism shape, like that prism you see used to create a rainbow from regular light. Only it’s got more jagged edges and is in rougher shape. Hard to describe, but it’s nice and smooth on two of it’s sides and is pretty to look at. Basically a paperweight now, but I like it all the same.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever sat on deliberately?
Probably nothing as weird as this question haha!
I don’t know, maybe I sat on a sprinkler at some point when I was a kid. That’s all I’ve got!
What do you want for Christmas? (I’m not going to get you it, I’m just curious.)
Socks. I normally get socks at Christmas, but last year I didn’t. So it’s been 2 years since I’ve gotten new socks, and I really want new socks! And yeah, I don’t typically buy clothes for myself so Christmas is pretty much the only time I get anything new in that department.
And not ankle socks either, I like traditional socks!
Do you have something you would like to achieve that you know is well within reach, but which you can’t seem to make progress on? If so, what do you think is stopping you? If not, what was the last major achievement you think you accomplished?
I guess I wouldn’t mind putting on a bit more muscle. I’ve been slowly improving in that department, and would consider myself to be in the best physical shape of my life, but it couldn’t hurt to go even… further.. beyond! Only thing stopping me is being too lazy. That’s why it helps to have a physical job!
As for an achievement I’ve accomplished, a lot has been going on lately but my life feels right on track. The struggle to find fulfillment in this life continues, but hopefully my next gamble will pay off. That said, I’ve almost unlocked every ship on hard mode in FTL so that’s probably my best recent achievement of the last few months.
Assume you work full-time if you don’t already. If we suddenly switched to a 4-day working week, what would you do with that extra day?
A 4-day work week would be nice. Does this mean 10-hour work days? It’s still more efficient due to one less day of commuting, so I’d be all for it.
I’d have to dedicate that extra day to reading philosophy, working out, practicing musical instruments… In reality, that extra day would just end up blending into the weekend, so I wouldn’t do anything special that I don’t normally do on weekends anyways.
Think of the characters you find attractive — in terms of both personality and appearance. What traits do they have in common, and what is it you find attractive about those traits?
Well, there are too many attractive characters in anime to nail down one exact archetype. That said, I do have a short checklist of things that make a character instant-waifu material:
- Hime cut (black hair preferred)
- Pouty face
- Bratty attitude
Basically shrine priestess type characters seem to be my favourite. Although neither of those necessarily does a pouty face or has a bratty attitude…
I don’t know why I find the hime cut attractive, but it’s best with black hair so I guess it’s more just the traditional Japanese look that I like. Shrine priestess really is a great character archetype, complete with black hair / hime cut.
As for the pouty face, well, pouty faces in anime are just adorable.
Bratty attitude I think I like just because of the tsundere archetype which has been so prevalent to varying degrees in anime. I guess it’s just grown on me, and tsunderes often come across as bratty / stuck up in my opinion.
Ok. I can put it off no longer.
I have to nominate people now.
All right, here we go.
Congratulations everyone, you are the newest generation of Real Neat Bloggers! Some of you may be veterans of the award, like myself, but these things are additive. Like the medals you see on formal military attire, they just keep piling up till your entire chest is covered in medals.
Now for the hard part, coming up with questions…
- If you had to listen to one song on repeat for the rest of your life, which song would you choose?
- What sound makes you the most uncomfortable?
- What is your favourite anime hairstyle? (Male or female)
- If you had millions of dollars to invest in creating new anime or funding anime sequels, what would your top three courses of action be?
- Re-read and link your first post. What are your thoughts on it now?
- What is a blog post you’ve written that you wish got more attention?
- Did you know that you can save up to 15% in just 15 minutes with Geico?
There we go. If you’d like to tackle these questions, enjoy. If not, then you can still enjoy the award and go to sleep tonight patting yourself on the back for being a Real Neat Blogger for a Real Neat Blog.
Despite all this, we’re not done yet.
There are more tag posts to come on the Umai Yomu Anime Blog, in what has become Tag Post Week 2019!
Until next time,
Thanks for reading.
