暁Records – Sci-Fi ROMANCE TRAVELER

Let’s get another Akatsuki song here on the blog.

I wasn’t expecting to keep this going for so long, or for these posts to do as well as they have been. I’m not sure yet what I’ll do after I’ve covered all of their YouTube PVs, but thanks for checking out these Akatsuki posts! Hopefully some of you out there have been inspired to check out their other works outside of this blog as a result of these song reviews.

The song this week is Sci-Fi ROMANCE TRAVELER.

Sci-Fi ROMANCE TRAVELER is based off of the Touhou track Satellite Cafe Terrace. Once again the similarities are immediately noticable – the first melody we hear from Satellite Cafe Terrace is the melody used in the chorus of Sci-Fi ROMANCE TRAVELER. If there’s other inspiration used for the verses of Sci-Fi ROMANCE TRAVELER, I’m not really hearing it.

Uncharacteristic of majority of the songs covered so far, this time around we are treated to a slower, more relaxing Akatsuki song. We’ve had some in the past, like Evening Primrose, but Sci-Fi ROMANCE TRAVELER feels even more calming than anything I’ve heard so far from Akatsuki. Something about it sounds… nostalgic, if that makes any sense.

A very beautiful song. I feel like you could use this song in an emotional anime and it would fit perfectly if used at the right time. It’s also the most gentle and calm voice I think I’ve heard from Stack, whose vocals are usually much more powerful or eccentric.

I think it’s great to come across songs that are still pushing Akatsuki’s boundaries in terms of style. We’ve heard powerful, rock, wacky, electronic, beautiful, traditional, and now… sentimental.

Love it.

I’m giving Sci-Fi ROMANCE TRAVELER a 5 / 5.
This song is so gentle, I feel like I need to listen to it the next time I’m irritated over something – I’m sure it’ll have no trouble in calming me down.

And that’s all for this week’s Akatsuki.

Until next time,
Thanks for reading.
