暁Records – Shout It Out Loud!!!

Let’s keep on going with these Akatsuki tunes!

The song this time is – Shout It Out Loud!!!
No translations needed!

A pretty rockin’ tune this time around!

There are two original Touhou tracks that were used in the creation of Shout It Out Loud!!!.

First is もう歌しか聞こえない , or Mou Uta Shika Kikoenai. The name translates to I Can Only Hear The Song.. or The Song Is All I Hear… or something like this. I think that’s right, but I needed help from Google for this one so maybe it isn’t. I dodge translation in the Akatsuki track to just find it here instead!

Anyways, Mou Uta Shika Kikoenai is a very piano-centric song. And it’s also the inspiration for the verses of Shout It Out Loud!!!. You should have no trouble whatsoever hearing the resemblance, once you get to the melody that was borrowed from this Touhou track. It’s a cool little melody, I have to admit. I like it a lot.

Second is Youkai Girl At The Gate. Or 門前の妖怪小娘 , if you were really interested in the Japanese title. This song is the inspiration for the chorus, as well as some other minor sections of Shout It Out Loud!!!. Once again, the melody speaks for itself here! To be honest though, I’m not as big of a fan of this one. Not as catchy, and I find the trumpet sound a bit jading, not just in this song but in many songs that use it. Something I’ll have to get used to whenever I get around to playing through all the Touhou games.

So with the longest introduction of one of these Akatsuki posts yet, how about the Akatsuki song itself?

For starters, as I mentioned earlier, this song is rock heavy, taking on a completely different tone from the Touhou originals. I think the chorus in particular sounds much, much better in this version, while the verses I’m split between the new and the old. That chorus though! It just pops with energy, a quality I really like from many Akatsuki songs.

And of course, you simply can’t beat the vocals of Stack. With much respect to ZUN, creator of the Touhou series, I’d pick Stack’s voice over those trumpet sounds anyday. Love how powerful the vocals are here. As great as all of the dynamic sounds are in this song, the vocals bring it home, as usual.

Now that I’ve gushed about the vocals again for one of these song reviews, it’s time to move onto the rating.

I’m going to rate Shout It Out Loud!!! a 4.5 / 5.
Love the energy from the chorus, and this song has actually helped fire me up a few times while out running. It’s also always interesting to check out songs like this that took inspiration from multiple different original tracks.

Until next time,
Thanks for reading / listening!
