Now that Taichi and Rin have discovered they possess great magic potential, the two are ready to begin learning how to make use of it.
And so we are treated to a training episode.
Taichi and Rin train. Taichi learns from Lemiya, the scantily clad woman, and Rin learns from Myura, the golden haired elf. They train, and talk about magic, and that’s about it for the episode.
The episode ends with Taichi and Rin ready to go on to become adventurers, just like they had planned last episode.
Textbook! Did I mention that this anime is super textbook? Because it is. It’s almost as if someone studied the isekai genre, figured out exactly how they could score a 7 / 10 rating, and went with it. And so while I think this anime isn’t bad so far, I also don’t see anything THAT interesting or exciting about it. It’s just super standard stuff. So far at least.
Out of all the characters so far I’d have to say that Lemiya is the most interesting, but maybe I think that just because she’s the edgiest character and this is an isekai anime. I’m not a huge fan of Taichi, who seems like a total airhead that has no real drive or motivation for anything. He also seems like he will do anything to appease others, which is giving me some unfortunate flashbacks to the slime anime.
The anime also spent a lot of time on Rin and her creativity with her magic. I liked how they made it so that Rin was able to take concepts she had learned in her own world and apply them to her magic in this new world. So while Taichi is a very boring character, it seems the anime is pretty focused on splitting its time between both Taichi and Rin, at least for now. Which is good I think.
We didn’t get to see much of Myura last episode, but we did this episode. I thought she was a bit disappointing – I was hoping for a tsundere elf, someone who was a little more stuck up. Instead she’s very calm, warm, and endearing. Which is a bit boring as well, unfortunately.
Considering how textbook this anime is, I’ve got an idea for the overall plot, with Taichi and Rin searching for the one who summoned them only to uncover a plot to overthrow the kingdom, or something like this. In the meantime though, and considering how easy-going these first two episodes have been, I’m expecting next episode to be mostly focused on Taichi and Rin going on adventures.
As you may have guessed, I’d say this is a very average anime so far.
It doesn’t take any risks, and so there’s nothing very interesting about it and it’s a bit boring at times. But it’s still an isekai, so I’ll enjoy watching the fantasy action that’s sure to come in the future anyways.
Until next time,
Thanks for reading.
