暁Records – Money Money

Finally, an Akatsuki Records song that speaks to me…
Just kidding.

This song this time around though is called Money Money!

The original ZUN / Touhou track that Money Money is based off is called Tonight Stars an Easygoing Egoist (Live ver.) ~ Egoistic Flowers. Shouldn’t be too difficult to hear the similarities between the two! Always an absolute pleasure to hear the differences between the two.

There are probably others like this that I’ve probably missed because only recently did I start paying attention to the vocalists and such, but Money Money was actually both arranged and sung by Stack. Considering Stack does the vocals for majority of the Akatsuki Records songs I’ve covered (but not all) I’m not surprised to see that they are also capable of arranging such a fun song.

Anyways, as for the song itself, it’s a very fun song! As I would expect at this point, it sounds completely unlike any other Akatsuki Records song I’ve listened to. I’m never really good at describing these things, but Money Money sounds like it’s divided into two parts.

The first half, after the intro, has this sort of “odd” sound to it. The vocals are all distorted at parts, and there are the wacky background vocals. And then there’s the second half, which begins at 2:09 with the “Hey Taxi!”. The song becomes much more electronic and upbeat, the vocals also get much stronger. This particular vocalist from Stack is amazing, I love how she manages to hit such high notes at the end of the chorus.

Both halves come together to create a very dynamic song. I also like how the chorus doesn’t come in until halfway through the song, and how the style changes at that point. Takes away from the repetition and gives the song a feeling of moving forward, which is always fun.

Also something else fun that I’ve noticed is that every Akatsuki Records song has a similar intro that allows for the “暁Records” logo to appear in the video before moving onto the first verse. I actually have an Akatsuki Records playlist I’ll listen to when I go out for a run, and I can always picture that logo appearing in my mind when I’m listening to the intro of their songs.

I’m giving Money Money a 4.99 / 5, because I’m really liking this song right now and the ratings don’t really mean anything anyways!

Until next time,
Thanks for reading / listening!
