暁Records – 神様Stories -INNOCENT-

Another Friday, another Akatsuki Records track.
I’m listening to them all the time anyways, so I may as well write about them right?

This week’s song is called 神様Stories -INNOCENT-, or God Stories – INNOCENT-.
Just going to call it -INNOCENT- going forward.

What can I say, Akatsuki Records has done it again.

This song is inspired by the Zun track Welcome to the Moon Tour from the album Magical Astronomy. Once again the resemblance is uncanny, but the style / energy levels of the tracks are quite different. If you skip to 1:50 in Welcome to the Moon Tour you can hear the primary melody that was ported over to -INNOCENT-.

I just love comparing the original track to the inspired track like this, it never ceases to impress me how Akatsuki Records can transform melodies the way they do. So to take the major melody from Welcome to the Moon Tour and just create an amazing song around it is excellent. I feel like a broken record, writing this for almost every Akatsuki Records song I “review”, but it’s such a profound change that I can’t help but bring it up!

I love the melody they chose. You can really feel the energy break out when the chorus hits in -INNOCENT-, always opening up with the words “Kami-sama” (God). Like many other Akatsuki Records songs, it’s this energy that I love. I’m not very good at describing music in words, but it feels so dynamic and alive. Especially when you listen to the chorus side-by-side with the original track.

I’m going to rate 神様Stories -INNOCENT- a 4.9 / 5.
Love the energy, love the melody, love the original track.

High-fives all around to everyone that made this song happen!

Until next time,
Thanks for reading (and listening, I hope!).

    1. Akatsuki Records typically takes songs from Touhou games and amps them up, as well as creates a PV for them. This song in particular I think is just from a ZUN (artist behind Touhou soundtrack) album, not sure if its actually from any of the Touhou games though.

      1. Ah cool! I thought those were Touhou characters in the video, but I don’t know the series super-well so I wasn’t 100% sure. Thanks! I’ll check out some more of Akatsuki Records’ stuff; I like ZUN’s music, so people fiddling around with it is rather appealing!

      2. They’re pretty amazing and unique, sometimes they go for a more powerful sound, sometimes they go for something really wacky and fun. You just never know.

I’ve written about quite a few of them now, with reference to the original Touhou tracks if you wanted to compare side by side, if that’s something you’re interested in.

I’m pretty hooked on their songs haha
