暁Records – 月見草 (Evening Primrose)

I’m back with more Akatsuki Records!
Not stopping until I’ve covered all of their songs.

I pretty much exclusively listen to Akatsuki Records while I’m writing posts these days.
Although there are a few exceptions that I’ve been hooked on as well.

This week’s song is called Evening Primrose!

What an absolute treat this song is.
Just when I think I’ve got a feel for the different styles I can expect from Akatsuki Records, they manage to get even more creative.

This song, just like KILLOVE FIREPROOF!, is inspired by the Touhou track Flight of the Bamboo Cutter ~ Lunatic Princess. One of my personal favourites. Unlike KILLOVE FIREPROOF! though, we get something much more gentle and traditional sounding – Evening Primrose. The inspired portion of Evening Primrose is actually a bit later on in the Touhou track – you can skip to 55 seconds on Lunatic Princess and you’ll hear the part that is used in Evening Primrose.

I’ve actually had this song on my Japanese music playlist for quite a while. Several months at least. I’ve listened to it quite a bit, often when I’m out for a walk or a run. But I had no idea this song was by Akatsuki Records! I don’t recognize the vocalist for this song, and it just sounds so different from their other songs that I’ve covered so far!

Naturally, the moment I realized this was an Akatsuki Records song, I had to cover it here (I’m going to cover them all eventually…). I don’t know what to say about this song, it’s just beautiful. I think “beautiful” is probably the best word to describe Evening Primrose, it’s just a beautiful song. That’s all I’ve got.

I’m rating Evening Primrose a 5.25 / 5.
I love this song too much, so it gets some bonus points.

Until next time,
Thanks for reading!
