暁Records –天地上乗有頂天 (Tenchi-Jojo)

It’s time for some more Akatsuki Records!
And their newest song, no less, as the song just came out on May 1.

I’m not even going to try and decipher this title, because the results seem to be all over the place when I do (Heavenly Ground Riding Ecstatic?). Instead, I’ll just call this “Tenchi-Jojo”, which is one of the lyrics from the song and sounds decent enough.

First off, this song was inspired by the Touhou track Wonderful Heaven. You can definitely hear the similarities between the two songs. It always amazes me how Akatsuki Records manages to take these songs and go in such a different direction. Sometimes they make it a little wacky, and sometimes they make it more passionate.

With Tenchi-Jojo they decided to get a little serious. And so we have a heavy rock chorus, with some more mellow verses. Always great to hear how they transform the classic Touhou brass, chime, etc. sounds into a dynamic song. I wasn’t sure what to make of the song at first, but just like with many other Akatsuki Records songs, I’ve really grown to like this one.

Something else that is great is that we get two of their usual vocalists for this song, with the vocalist for LOVE EAST doing the verses and the vocalist for Girl’s Salvation Theory doing the choruses. You can’t go wrong with any of their vocalists, but it’s definitely nice to hear more than one of them in the song.

While it did take a little while to warm up to, maybe 3 or so listens, I really do love this song now.

I’m giving Tenchi-Jojo a 5 / 5 rating, it’s a great song.

Until next time,
Thanks for reading!

I like your reviews, especially the first ones, when you think there are different vocalist in the songs, and then you were like:
    >TFW you realize that it’s all Stack vocals o.O

Also the earlier songs form Akatsuki have a different arranger, while most of the newer it’s either Stack or Stack bros. doing the arrangements, and you can tell the difference.

What about full album reviews too, not just single songs.

    Keep up the good work!

PS. Stack is my one and only drug

    1. The amount of words I’ve written praising Stack, especially since I had that realization, are too many to count!

I wish I could comment on earlier vs. later, but pretty much all of their songs were uploaded to YouTube at the same time – Dec. 25, 2017.

I plan on picking up the albums one at a time though, and when I do I’ll definitely write about them. They have 30s samples of each song on their Soundcloud, so I’d still be able to share my favourite songs that way at least. Just have to find the time to figure out how I can buy the albums on these JP sites they sell them on.

Hey, If you want, I might be able to help with buying their CD’s since, I actually bought 3 albums from overseas, without any problems, and not overly expensive. Hit me up on Discord if you don’t mind. Vertgear#7492
