As Ecchi As It Gets.

Keeping up with my new tradition (2 posts) of writing about whatever on Sundays, I had the idea of writing about some of the ecchiest anime I’ve seen. The idea came from talking to Lynn Sheridan about Dewbond’s favourite anime, Shinmai Maou no Testament. And that’s about when I figured, why not parse my anime list and pick out the ecchiest of them all?

And that’s where we are now.

Now that you are up to date, let’s talk ecchi anime.
There may be ecchier anime out there, but here is a list of the ecchiest that I personally have watched.

Heads up that I don’t have many ecchi images saved on my computer or on this blog, so none of the pictures I show here have anything to do with anything!

Be warned, this post contains descriptions of ecchi scenes from ecchi anime!

1. To LOVE-Ru Darkness

Yep, I’ve seen the infamous To LOVE-Ru sequel, To LOVE-Ru Darkness. I used to be quite the ecchi anime enthusiast after all. The best way to describe TLR Darkness is: borderline hentai. It’s borderline hentai. Straight up, from what I’ve seen, you won’t find an “anime” closer to hentai than TLR Darkness. Pretty much every episode has implied sex in a way that it can show sexual acts, without showing sexual acts. Best example of this is that scene where a girl sucks on ice cream that a guy is holding at waist height, and then gets ice cream on her face..

But it doesn’t stop with that. Many times, TLR Darkness just drops the implication and goes for it. Sure, you won’t see direct genitalia, but who needs to see the act directly when you can clearly see the character writhing in reaction to someone else… interacting with them?

Anyways, that’s enough about TLR Darkness. It was a weird sequel where a bunch of new characters just appeared that weren’t in the original To LOVE-Ru. It had a story but the real agenda was clearly to display the most sexual content possible while still being considered an anime. That’s my take on it at least.

2. Seikon no Qwaser

Seikon no Qwaser is an interesting ecchi anime. The kind that takes a sexual premise and incorporates it into the plot, so the protagonist is forced to regularly engage in some sort of sexual act with female characters in order to advance the plot, or power up. Power up being the case for this one.

It’s been a very long time since I actually watched Seikon no Qwaser, but it’s got an unforgettable premise: through some magic or something, the protagonist has to… drink breast milk in order to power up and fight enemies. Naturally, he does this straight from the source. Out of all the ecchi anime I’ve seen, this is probably the most ridiculous in terms of premise. So while Seikon no Qwaser doesn’t go nuts with implied sex and borderline hentai scenes, at least from what I remember, it does manage to still get a good amount of sexual content in there with it’s premise.

The crazy thing of this all is, I actually remember enjoying the action from this anime, despite the ridiculous breast sucking theme. If I remember correctly, the main character can manipulate iron, and by extension, blood. And I remember him using his own blood as a weapon quite often. I guess I just liked the main character’s abilities and how he used them in combat. It helped me see past the ecchi aspect of the anime – I even watched the second season! This was a long time ago though.

3. Shinmai Maou no Testament

At this point, you might be thinking, “Yomu, really? I can name 10,000 ecchier anime than that!“. Well, sorry friend. I’ve seen many ecchi anime, but there are probably MANY borderline hentai anime that I’ve missed. And that ship has sailed, as I no longer partake in super ecchi content like I used to. Plus, if the ecchi isn’t incorporated into the plot, I’ve probably forgotten about it!

I won’t spend much time on this pick, but here’s my reasoning for it. Unlike Highschool DxD, which loves to tease, Shinmai Maou no Testament just goes all in with incorporating the ecchi / sexual content into the plot. If I remember correctly, the protagonist has to grope women in order to power up? Or something like this? Dewbond, feel free to correct me. I don’t remember why, I just remember several scenes where the protagonist is in a dark room, “massaging” the breasts of one girl, and the butt of another.

It’s funny cause long after I saw the first season, I went to watch the second, Shinmai Maou no Testament Burst, but just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t even get past the first episode, because the anime went straight into some hardcore groping. I find it just crazy that some anime can get right into it like that.

4. Masou Gakuen HxH

Maybe this one deserves to be #3, I don’t know for sure. I’ll admit, I only made it to episode 2 before dropping Masou Gakuen HxH. So it’s possible this is the ecchier anime.

What I can say about this one, is that the premise is once again, very ecchi. In Masou Gakuen HxH, there are a bunch of girls fighting in mechs / mecha suits (can’t remember which). The girls have some sort of special energy that they use in order to fight. Want to guess how they recharge it?

Erotic experiences with our protagonist, of course!

I just couldn’t get very far with a premise like that. I don’t mind fanservice when it’s subtle. I also don’t mind it when the anime embraces it. But I just have trouble getting through anime that turns it into a ridiculous plot device like this!

5. Highschool DxD

Honestly, when I try and think of really ecchi anime, Highschool DxD isn’t what comes to mind. I think part of the reason for this is because Highschool DxD is a big tease most of the time. Lots of fanservice, but it doesn’t deliver as much on the implied sexual content. Sure, the protagonist wakes up with naked girls clinging to him, but they don’t really do anything beyond that. The most sexually implied scenes I can think of are the ones where that black haired girl sucks the protagonist’s finger, which do fit the “implied sex” theme, I have to admit.

Those finger sucking scenes are the reason I decided to put Highschool DxD on the list above some other anime. Honestly, there’s enough nudity and fan service in this anime to merit a spot on the list anyways. There are just a lot of anime out there that are also packed with nudity and fan service, which is why I was more focused on implied sex / sexual actions.

Unlike all of the other entries on this list, Highschool DxD actually has a really good plot and world design. Personally, I wish it wasn’t an ecchi anime at all – I just want to watch the dynamic between angels, fallen angels, and demons play out. But hey, it is what it is!

Ecchi Anime Girl Hinako Breasts Squats

And that’s all for this list. There are other R+ ecchi anime that I was considering for the list, but honestly I can’t remember what happens in any of them. Anime like Maken-ki, Sekirei, Ladies Versus Butlers… I’m drawing a complete blank. So maybe I missed an anime that is more ecchi than what I listed here.

I’ll also be rewatching Ikkitousen soon, which I know is fanservice heavy, but I don’t remember any sexual situations, just straight fanservice and fighting. Looking forward to it regardless. All of these ecchi anime that I watched many years ago have piqued my curiosity to a degree.

What’s the ecchiest anime you’ve seen?

Until next time.
Thanks for reading.

  1. High School DxD is strong enough after 4 seasons to take a step back from the ecchi (which the light novels do around the same point. still plenty of boobs though) because it has built up a great cast, good story, interesting world and fun moments. However at the start, having the in your face ecchi is a great way to hook viewers into a show that without it, let’s face it, is a by the numbers shounen plot. It’s not what keeps viewers around, but it is an essential factor in the success of the show.

I’m still waiting on Sentai’s english dub of To Love Ru, I’ve yet to watch Qwaser, and HybridxHeart is literally just “ecchi Infinite Stratos,” and that other show can go fuck itself.

    1. Yep, what I like about it is the setting and the world they managed to create. Still haven’t seen season 4, but I’m still open to checking it out sometime because I like the setting.

      1. Season 4, (which I’ve blogged about, pluggity plug plug) has a decent start, they jump right back into the action and it’s good if you are coming right in from the half of season 3 that is canon. The second half of the season though is probably the strongest stuff yet, and has what I believe to be the show’s best moments: The Issei development.

People are iffy on the new animation, I love it to death, it gives the series it’s own unique feel and style. Overall though, it’s a good season and I loved it to death, but the second half is absolutely the stronger part.

  2. I’ve been watching anime since 1998, so I’ve forgotten more ecchi than I care to remember. I suppose if you exclude the softcore/borderline hentai stuff, the ecchiest thing that’s coming to mind right now is Agent Aika, which had more panty shots-per-minute than anything I’ve ever seen. My favorite quote about it was someone on twitter who said, “This isn’t an anime with panty shots, this is a panty shot that occasionally breaks into a story.”

Out of your five I’ve only watched DxD, and I dropped that after only a couple of episodes because I couldn’t stand Issei. One of my least favorite anime protagonists ever.

    1. Considering the poster on MAL for Agent Aika has 3 panty shots, I believe you haha.

I can agree with you about Issei, one of the things that bothered me about him is that he is supposed to be this really perverted guy, but then when he actually gets into perverted situations, he all of the sudden becomes this pure character that avoids doing anything. That always bugged me about him.

    2. Issei is an acquired taste, but he grows on you as the stories goes on, very much how Naruto Uzumaki was nigh unbearable at the start, but by the end he’s actually a pretty chill dude.

I’ve always viewed that the girls of DxD make him a better person and help his positive traits shine. Then again, it’s an ecchi/harem show so most of that takes a back seat, but when it does show up it is an amazing bonus.
