The Umai Yomu Anime Blog is a lovely blog.
We know that thanks to this post, when the blog first received a One Lovely Blog Award. In fact, this was the first award of many to be received on this blog. What a journey it’s been over these past several months.
But it’s not over yet, because the blog has been nominated yet again for the One Lovely Blog Award. You know, this makes the Umai Yomu Anime Blog a lovely blog x2. Twice as lovely as it once was. Truly a lovely blog, loved by many. And all of this love is very appreciated by yours truly. Thanks everyone for the support.
Speaking of which, an extra thanks goes out to Tessa for the nomination this time around. Tessa also runs a lovely blog, that I recently discovered a few weeks ago. A great blog for anime and manga related content!
Going to steal the rules from my last lovely blog post:
1) Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog
2) Add the One Lovely Blog Award to your post
3) Share 7 things about yourself
4) Pass this on to as many people as you like (max 15)
5) Include this set of rules
6) Inform your nominees
All right! 7 MORE things about myself!
Going to start with #7 and make this look like a countdown, even though it isn’t actually a countdown. Get excited for #1 for no real reason!
7. My Job
I’m currently an inventory analyst for a company that sources produce (fruit & veg) from producers / suppliers to restaurants. Much to my surprise when I was hired, the company does not use scanners and tracks inventory manually. Considering produce is constantly entering and leaving our warehouse, it’s quite the challenge to try and reconcile physical on-hand inventory versus system on-hand inventory. Hoping that we adopt a better warehouse management system with scanners soon, but until that day my job is basically to apply band-aids to our current procedures / tracking in order to minimize the variance between our system and physical inventory. I also take care of various other inventory related tasks.
At the moment, I just consider this job a short-term deal while I try and get my amazon business going (or find some other online business to start). Long-term the goal is to make an online income so that I can move away from Toronto and actually afford a house / family.
6. First Anime
Technically if you include all anime, then like many others my first anime would have been either Dragon Ball Z or Pokemon. I don’t really count these though, because I saw them as cartoons that I would watch here and there as a kid. I never actually watched either from start to finish because I would miss episodes and whatnot as the seasons aired on TV.
So I consider my first anime to be Vandread. Which I would have been around 2013, when I was still in University. My roommate had a decent manga collection and watched anime, and I became interested through him. I can’t remember why exactly, but I think he was watching Vandread and told me I should give it a shot when I asked him for a recommendation, and so I did. After that I went on to watch Fairy Tail, Ah! My Goddess, Haruhi, Full Metal Panic!, and One Piece. I watched all of those anime dubbed, before watching Seitokai no Ichizon subbed and realizing that subs are pretty good. And that’s how it all started!
5. Vacation Plans
I’d like to visit Japan sometime! Hopefully next year. I would be going alone, and I currently don’t have any idea what I would do exactly. My rough plan is to learn a bit of Japanese so that I can at least somewhat converse with people. After that, I was thinking of maybe trying to find a website or something where I could chat with some Japanese people and maybe meet some people who might want to show me around and hang out. That would be the best case scenario I think. I’d be fine with just puttering around Japan on my own too.
I won’t have my full 2 weeks of vacation until late next year, so I’ve got some time to iron out the details at least. I haven’t left Canada in over a decade – I don’t even have a passport currently!
I have a serious sweet tooth. While I can exercise self control when I feel it’s necessary, I definitely consume too many sugary treats! I’m not at that point where it has an affect on my weight, but I should probably try to tone it down for when the metabolism slows down..
3. First Job
I got my first part-time job when I was in Grade 8 of elementary school at an aquarium store. Sweeping / mopping, cleaning tanks, putting away stock, catching fish, selling fish & aquarium supplies – it was an awesome job. I held it all the way through high school. We sold both tropical and marine fish, and eventually we started selling lizards as well. Looking back it was pretty much a dream job for a high school kid like myself. So yeah, I know a thing or two about fish and aquariums!
2. Anime Watch Time
I’ve watched 116.6 days of anime. Crazy to think about!
According to MAL, that’s 372 completed anime, and 7,031 completed episodes. You know, it doesn’t feel like I’ve spend so much time watching anime, but I guess the stats don’t lie. My memory isn’t amazing but I feel like I could remember most of those 372 anime that I’ve seen. Anime is pretty great!
My eyes are blue and green, but not the kind where each eye is a separate colour. Both of my eyes have a ring of green around the pupil, and then an outer ring of blue. They look neat up close, but far away they just look like a dull blue, I’ve even had someone tell me they thought my eyes were grey. The rest of my family has blue eyes. I’ve only ever met one other person who has eyes like this, so I figured it’s interesting enough to share here!
That’s all for this tag post!
Time for some nominations.
- Average Joe Reviews – Finally I can return the favour! Gotcha.
- Winter Reverie – Been loving your content recently! I’m glad I discovered your blog.
- Lynn Sheridan – Love your recent posts. I’ve been abstaining from your Highschool of the Dead posts for now only because I know that reading any more will make me drop what I am currently watching to watch HOTD! Fond memories of that anime for sure.
Should you respond to the tag or not, you all have lovely blogs.
Consider yourselves Yomu certified.
I’ve got some great stuff planned for this week, so stay tuned!
Until next time.
Thanks for reading.
