Anything + Anime = Better?

What is the deal with anime? Something about it just seems to catch my interest, or increase my enjoyment for some reason.

My YouTube recommendations went off the deep end a while ago, filled almost completely with Japanese songs with anime thumbnails. And you know what? Those anime thumbnails totally work on me. I see a picture of an anime girl I haven’t seen before, and I click on it.

Anyone else get this?

Anime otter > real otter.

You could even expand it to the internet in general. When I am browsing any site, if something anime catches my eye, I’m checking it out.

This must be a side effect of loving anime. My brain has been re-wired to dedicate more attention to anime or something like this. Now, I’m not ADDICTED to anime or anything, but this has to be similar to “top of the mind awareness” or whatever. Anime just gets me, man. Or my brain seeks it out at least.

It’s a good thing that advertisers here haven’t caught onto this yet. Or wait, maybe it isn’t! I’d actually watch commercials if they were anime…

Advertisers pay attention!
Anime is the future.

I don’t even know what to call it, but I know I’m not alone. Anime is becoming more popular in memes, and online in general from what I’ve seen. Which is great really. Just means I get to see more anime content on a regular basis. (Not addicted to anime tho).

Anime has even affected gaming for me. When I discovered there was a cosmetic anime mod for Hearts of Iron IV, I ended up sinking many more hours into the game. I just recently purchased Stellaris, and immediately downloaded some cosmetic anime mods. Everything just feels better with anime!

Now I’m a very traditional person.

BUT, I feel like anime could maybe be the key to creating some sort of utopian society! Just think about the applications anime could have!

People are resistant to robots taking their jobs? Well, what if I told you they were ANIME robots? Maybe that’d change some people’s opinions.

Worried about people permanently retreating from society to live in virtual reality worlds, indulging in complete escapism? Well, what if I told you they were in virtual ANIME worlds? Aha. Checkmate, traditional values.

Concerned about the increasing power of corporations over our everyday lives, invading personal privacy and bombarding us with advertising? Well, what if I told you they were ANIME advertisements, custom tailored to your personal anime tastes? Gotcha.

Anime takes dystopia, and turns it into utopia!
Everything is just better with anime.

At the very least, it causes me to click on YouTube videos I otherwise wouldn’t have.
It’s a good start really, but we clearly have a long way to go still.

I for one welcome our new anime overlords.

Turns out the hole in his heart could be filled with anime all along.

Well this post turned out a little different from what I had expected going in.
While I jest about anime, there is some sort of psychological aspect here. This is the type of thing that corporations love, and part of why they love invading our privacy / buying personal information from tech companies to learn more about us.

I would pay attention to more ads if they were anime related.
That one statement is information that advertisers would kill for (not literally though).

I guess I just became interested in this after paying attention to my own behaviour. It’s an interesting topic to think about at least. If not anime, something else. I’m sure everyone has something that they are more likely to pay attention to.

This isn’t some anti-corporate message, although I think privacy is important. Sometimes I just intrigue myself with a topic such as this. This thought happened to be anime related, so I figured why not write about it. I know I’m not the only one who reacts positively to anime like this!

More anime? Yes please.

Anyways, that’s all I really wanted to write about.

Until next time!
Thanks for reading.
