Some Good Lengthy Anime

Sometimes I think that 12/13 episodes is the perfect length for an anime, but it really depends on many factors. Plot complexity, number of major characters, and also plot length (ex. foreshadowing future enemies) can have an impact on how many episodes an anime needs to hit that perfect number of episodes.

There are a few exceptions, such as One Piece, that manage to hit a level of success that the manga can continue writing and the anime can continue development. Watching the plot and characters develop over 800+ episodes is pretty great in the case of One Piece.

One Piece is a great adventure – well worth watching.

Anyways, I was going through my list of watched anime and decided to post some of the more lengthy anime that I enjoyed. There are definitely other large anime franchises that are great (with 100+ episodes), but here are some that are around 50 episodes.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

fmab.jpgMight as well mention the best right away. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is one of the best anime out there. With 64 episodes you can guarantee for a lot of enjoyment. I was definitely hooked on this one, and I think I finished it in about a week.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch

codegeass.jpgCode Geass is another classic anime. When you combine both seasons you get 50 episodes of riveting action paired with some great mind games. Also great if you like overpowered main characters like I do.

Soul Eater

souleater.jpgSoul Eater is a 51 episode anime that involves some really cool concepts and characters. I enjoyed the overall anime, although I did feel like some parts dragged on a little bit. That being said, it’s still a solid lengthy anime that has enough action to stay exciting.

Durarara!!

drrr.jpgTotaling 60 episodes across 4 seasons, I had to include Durarara!!. One of my personal favourite anime, this one is less action oriented (although it has some good action) and heavier on intrigue. The style used to tell the story through various major characters and how they all interact with each other is amazing.

Ansatsu Kyoushitsu

anatsukyoushitsu.jpg2 seasons for 47 episodes, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom) is a fun lengthy anime. Much less intense on plot development, this anime focuses more on comedy and action. It’s a great anime that is much less serious and sort of scratches that slice of life itch with the daily school life while adding some action to the mix.

I think 800 episodes is just crazy. 52-112 episodes for me should be average when it comes to length. 10 episodes is just darn short, unless you divide it for each season, then Im okay with that.

    1. Yeah I think the length is really anime specific. Anything past 100 episodes better have some great characters to keep me interested in their journey / development. 10 episodes can work sometimes though, short hard hitting anime like Violet Evergarden I think its best to keep short and sweet
