If there’s one thing that can take an anime to the next level, its a good soundtrack. I can’t help but get hooked on some of the songs used in anime. For this post I’ll show four songs that I like, although I definitely have way more than four I’d like to share and probably will share more in future posts. Keep in mind I’m not ranking any of these (although I may prefer one over another).
Hikaru Nara – If We Shine
Something about this song really brightens my day – which makes it the perfect song choice for Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. I decided to post the full song as it really is a beautiful song – I really love music with a catchy melody. The accoustic guitar and brass make a great accompaniment, but what really makes this song is the vocals. Some songs you have to hear multiple times to develop an attachment to, but with this song the first chorus is enough – simply amazing.
Mirai Nikki OP1
Yousei Teikoku – Kuusou Mesorogiwi
Contrast to the previous song, Mirai Nikki’s opening is heavy, with a sort of creepy vibe, and yet it works really well – especially for this anime. Normally I’m not a fan of metal, but this song is an exception. I think that the combination of heavy instrumental coupled with the higher pitched vocals works wonders. Normally metal songs would use guitar to hit higher octaves like this, its really nice hearing the vocals do it instead. With this and the previous song, you can really tell that a lot of effort goes into choosing the perfect song to match the anime!
Aimer – Ninelie
This song really inspires courage in my opinion – it definitely did for me. I listened to this song non-stop when I made the decision to quit my job and start something new where I could be happier, which also indirectly led to me creating this blog. I don’t know how else to describe this song, the instrumentals and vocals give this feeling of adventure and hope.
Now for all I have said about loving music in anime, I have a bad habit of skipping the ending songs to get to the next episode ASAP. That being said, my current policy is that I listen to the opening and ending of the first episode, and if I like them I will listen to them in every episode. If I don’t like one of them I will skip over it (sorry!). I’m glad I didn’t skip this one.
Yuka Iguchi – Platinum Disco
Decided to post the shorter opening as opposed to the full song – after listening to both I feel like the shorter version sounds a little different, and I think that the shorter length works well for this upbeat song. Going to be honest here, this song is pretty addicting. I mentioned earlier I like a catchy melody – this song is the definition of catchy. Also I know this post isn’t about the opening animation, but I can’t not mention Tsukihi’s dancing! I feel like it adds to the addiction somehow.
Anyways like I mentioned earlier, I have many more songs I’d like to share – music can definitely add emotion and memory to an anime, and in the case of some anime, the soundtrack can be the most memorable part!
